Sims Social Careers: Which Is the Best Career to Choose?

As you know, there are three career choices that we can make at the moment in The Sims Social (but Playfish promised that more are coming!). Right now we can choose from being a Celebrity Chef, a Rock Star or an Art Master. I am sure you are wondering which is the best career to choose in The Sims Social and I am here to answer that question for you!

And the answer is: there is no such thing as a best career! You should choose whatever fits you best or, maybe, based on the cool reward items that you can gain when you go up the ranks of your new career. And in order to maybe help you a little bit, here are the in-game details about the three new Sims Social careers:

So, what will you choose? Will you be the rocker, the chef or the artist? Let us know in the comment section below which is the best career for you in The Sims Social!

Step By Step Guide to Mastering Your Career in The Sims Social

The good folks over at the Playfish forums have shared with us a complete and amazing guide to the Sims Social careers and I am sure you are all curious to read an in-depth and rather complete guide, so I have decided to share it with you below, so that you know exactly what to expect from this new feature in the game. Stay tuned for even more in-depth details as we dig through this feature and find out amazing new things!

Step 1: Click on the brand new careers icon!

You’ll see this as a button next to your Sim’s face in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. This is where you will always be able to access careers.

Step 2: Pick a career!

You have a choice of careers to pick from. Each one takes you on a different journey with different rewards to collect! You can move your mouse cursor over each reward to find out more about it

Step 3: Choose a job to do!

Earn simoleons and, more importantly, Career Points that help you work toward promotions, by completing jobs from your new chosen career.

All you have to do is select a job you want to perform and then make sure you’re back in time to collect the rewards.

In the meantime, you can close the window, but make sure you keep an eye on the icon next to your Sim’s head to see how much time remains.

When the appointment is ready, you’ll see the bag with a tick mark next to it.

Top tip: Make sure you arrive for work in time! Punctual Sims get double Career Points!

Step 4: Go to Work!

Now, you can click on the “Go to Work” button. You will need to use 1 to 3 energy to activate this.

You will then see an animation of your Sim at work and your rewards appearing:

Notice that sometimes you’ll get a special collectible when you go to work! These “Career Tokens” are specific to each career. They are special because you can use them on special jobs.

This special job gives you a lot more coins and Career Points. Remember, these tokens will sometimes drop from doing other jobs in your career! So if you need more, book more tasks.

As you complete jobs, you’ll get better and better at it. Your mastery at a job is shown by the number of stars. 1 star means you’re pretty good, 2 you’re better yet and 3 you’re freaking amazing at this job. The reward for getting stars on each job is - of course! - more earnings. So you can get more Career Points and Simoleons for each mastered job.

Some jobs are special! You’ll need to collect tokens to be ready to do these special jobs but the rewards are super worth it! Arrive on time and the rewards are even better!

Step 5: Get Promoted!

As you earn Career Points, over time you’ll work your way up to a promotion! When you do, you’ll be presented with a quest to see if you’re ready to climb up the ranks in your chosen career!

DID YOU KNOW? If you have reached a quest promotion, you will still be able to book a job: just click on the jobs tab! However, you will not earn any Career Points. You must complete the quest promotion to continue to earn Career Points!

Each Career Level is divided into 3 Steps. So you will need to get promoted 3 times to get to the next Career Level. Look out for the I, II and III levels in each icon - this will tell you how far you’ve come in your current role before your big promotion!

When you get promoted, you’ll get the following prompt!

Upon getting promoted to a different Career Level (like from Air Guitarist to Karaoke Singer), you’ll earn special exclusive skill items, clothing, decoration items and even special skill-enhancing traits!

NEW Traits!

When you reach the 5th level of each Career, you will unlocks a new trait that you can use to earn more simoleons when you work on skills related to your career! So now working on your burger flips will help you earn more simoleons when you cook at home, too!

DID YOU KNOW?

… That even before you reach a promotion quest, you can preview the next promotion before you start it - AND see the reward? This is a great way to prepare! Just click the Promotions tab to see more!

Step 6: Work hard - PLAY hard!

Whether you’re on the fast track to becoming the greatest rock star of all time or you’re making use of your cooking talent, everyone will be doing something different! Tell your friends about your Sim’s ambitions and see who gets to reach the top of their careers first!

Playfish Offers Further Details about The Sims Social Careers

I have already shared with you an early guide to the careers in The Sims Social, but I am sure that we can never have enough information about this new feature. Fortunately, this seems to be the same thing that EA and Playfish are thinking, as they have released a new press statement detailing the careers feature in The Sims Social. Check it out below:

Sims characters in The Sims Social are finally bringing home the simoleons! On March 22, EA/Playfish will launch Careers, a new game-changing feature in The Sims Social that gives players a whole new way to engage with their Sim and play with life.

Since its launch in August 2011, The Sims Social, the award-winning free-to-play social game on Facebook, has been captivating players by enabling them to engage with every aspect of Sims’ social lives – from building friendships to falling in love – and now with Careers, players can unleash career ambitions for their Sims and watch them rise to success as they embark on exciting new opportunities.

The Careers feature, which unlocks at level seven, introduces three exciting career paths for players to choose for their Sim: hip Rock Star, world-renown Celebrity Chef or an avant-garde Art Master. Just like in real life, no one becomes a master of their trade overnight. Players are challenged to progress through multiple career levels by mastering fun tasks and completing promotion quests. Players will be rewarded with simoleons, the in-game currency, and Career Points as their Sim blossoms from Garage Band Musician to Web Sensation, moves up the culinary ladder from Burger Flipper to Cooking Show Contestant or refines their artist skills from Canvas Stretcher to Street Art Sensation.

The Careers feature will add an exciting and new dimension to The Sims Social gameplay experience by:
- Deepening the level of personalization and creativity. Setting forth on a new career path gives players a new way to express their personalities and personal tastes in the game.
- Expanding the gameplay options. Introducing over 90 new activities, tasks, quests and achievements for the Careers feature, players will be able to explore and engage with a variety of new interactions in The Sims Social.
- Bringing new ways to compete with friends. In addition to House Values, the overall success of a Sim will also be measured in terms of career levels.

Guide Sims Social Careers: What Are Career Points and What Careers to Choose

Today is the big day when a game-changing feature launches in The Sims Social: careers. However, except for the fact that careers were coming in The Sims Social, not much else was known about this feature. Fortunately, the folks over at the Games.com blog had a chat with The Sims Social executive producer Chris White which has enabled us to deliver this guide to The Sims Social careers, answering some burning questions before the mega launch today.

How does the career system work in The Sims Social?

There are more career paths that we can start following in the game and confirmed are the following: Rock Star, Celebrity Chef and Art Master. There might be even more, but three would be enough to start with anyway because each career path will bring in a lot of advantages to players. For example, each career we choose will allow us to earn more Simoleons when using career-related items (using the guitar as a Rock Star, for example), and as we climb up the career ladder, we get more Career Points, we get unique items to the career we're mastering and even special interactions with friends.

So careers will not only be a means for us to make more money by going to work regularly, but also to brag with our achievements and compare our stats with those of our friends. Because now, near House Value, career levels will now be a means to compare with the success of our neighbors.

What are Career Points?

I was telling you yesterday that Career Points will be introduced with the launch of Careers in The Sims Social and I am sure you were curious to find out more about them. According to Chris White, Career Points are some sort of XP points - they are required for us to complete career quests and to be promoted to the next level. We will get double career points just for going to work on time, so the most active players should have no problem getting them soon.

What is the best career to choose in The Sims Social?

Any career that you feel it's right for you! The Sims Social will certainly make all the careers in the game to be pretty even, so it's best to choose what you like. Each career will introduce special interactions and items unique for that career, and the good news is that if you decide you no longer like your career, you can quit your job and start over. Indeed, you will lose your current level of the career you had (obviously), but at least you and your Sim will be happy.

What do you think about the Career System in The Sims Social? Do you like how it sounds so far?

Sims Social Careers to Debut Soon - Maybe This Week?

There were reports that careers will make their way to The Sims Social sooner or later and requests for careers started to be heard ever since the game was launched on Facebook and Playfish did not play deaf. They were secretly working on bringing Careers to Sims Social and today they have posted a teaser, an image that you can see below, showing that careers are coming to The Sims Social - maybe even with today's update!

As we can all see, one of the Careers that we'll get to follow in The Sims Social is Burger Flipper, not the most attractive of them all (hopefully), and certainly just one of many that we'll get to somehow unlock in the game.

Even more, we see that Career Points will be introduced in The Sims Social, but right now we have no idea what these are exactly.

However, one thing is clear now: Careers are coming to The Sims Social sooner rather than later and I'll make sure to keep you updated on this matter!
