As you probably know already, the Sports Week theme has just started in The Sims Social and most of us were really excited about this new theme since it seems to be the first "manly" release in the game for a long time at least. And although I wasn't expecting boxing classes or American Football courts to be released in the game, I must admit that I am pretty disappointed with the content that's part of this week's theme.
The Sports Week collection has indeed brought us a new Skill in The Sims Social, the Athletic Skill, but there are just two items that come with it and allow us to improve it and they're not that special: I am talking here about the Simiyoga Mat and the XRunner 3000 Home Edition... Not very impressive, to say the least!
However, we'll have to purchase these items like we always do, and I am here to share with you the details: the easiest to get is the Simiyoga Mat which only costs 1,000 Simoleons.
Next, the XRunner 3000 involves a little bit of work since it costs a big 35,000 Simoleons (but also gives an amazing house value of 13,000) and it also requires building materials: 12 Wrenches, 12 Entertainments, 15 Peaches, 10 Stopwatches and 5 Gym Shoes.
Hopefully Playfish has a few more items for the Athletic Skill in mind and ready for release in the near future.
Until then, tell us what you think about the Sports Week items in The Sims Social: do you like them or you are, like me, slightly disappointed?

The Sims Social Venture Gloves Review
One of the best quest rewards in recent times offered by PlayFish for completing a mission series are the Venture Gloves, the reward for completing the recently launched Quest for the Golden Dragon. This item is pretty hard to get - since you have to complete the entire series, but it's totally worth the trouble!
I am saying this because the Venture Gloves are clothing items that, once you wear them, allow you a special interaction with your Sims Social Neighbors, the Secret Handshake, which will reward you with impressive goodies: 6 social points and 10 XP. Imagine just how many social points, not to mention experience, you can get from this simple interaction if you have a lot of neighbors and if you visit them daily.
So don't hesitate to wear the Sims Social Venture Gloves once you get them from finishing the new missions, they're totally worth it!

Upcoming Planet Tokyo Theme in The Sims Social Looks Great
Probably because a big part of the Sims Social fan base is from Asia, Playfish has decided to release an Asian-themed set of decorations and items for our Sim Social houses and Sims - the Planet Tokyo theme that brings us a ton of really cool Japanese themed items. As you can see, the Japanese / Planet Tokyo decorations in The Sims Social will look AMAZING! Here are some images with the top picks of the Tokyo decorations available now in the game:
We can also see a bunch of the upcoming items if we visit Bela's house. If you don't feel like doing that, I did it and came with a screenshot (click to enlarge and see some more Tokyo Planet Japanese themed items for the Sims Social):
So don't forget to check out the market to purchase your Tokyo themed items right now and especially pay a visit to the Decorations page where most of the goodies are!
What do you think about this upcoming Japanese Theme in the game? Like it or not?
