Would You Like to Cheat in The Sims Social?

Players who have reached high enough friendship levels with other Sims in The Sims Social probably know one thing already: you can't date two Sims at the same time, further meaning that you can't cheat in the game: as long as you are in a relationship, you must end the current one first before being able to date somebody else.

Even though some flirty interactions are still available in the game, the relationship status doesn't change so it's not an official cheat. Also, there could be no possible way to make out (or WooHoo) so things are kept to a rather normal level. Here is why, according to Tom Mapham, The Sims Social producer:

"We felt that being able to date 30 other Sims at the same time would lose any connection to real relationships," he says. "So at present Sims can only sustain one romantic relationship at a time. The game is a live service in beta and we will continue to review the design based on player feedback."

So what do you think? Are current ways better, meaning that you like not to be allowed to cheat in The Sims Social, or you'd like more freedom to date and WooHoo with as many Sims as possible?

  1. I think having the option to date other sims would make the game more exciting but only if there was a risk factor. If there was some percentage that the sim you're in a relationship might find out then that might make the game more realistic. Maybe there's a way to keep that percentage very small by maintaining an extremely high level with your boy/girlfriend. But, if you don't visit them often anymore then maybe the chances of them getting a notification would increase. Just an idea ^^*

  2. I think that the lastgirlscount's suggestion is perfect. In real life you can cheat and your date may find out but if you cheat often or with several others and don't see your date as often as you did before, they are more likely to know about it and dump you.

I'd also like my sim to be able to have a job.

  3. Or....maybe if your boy/girlfriend is visiting your house at the exact moment your cheating they'll catch you. So if someone was suspecting, like maybe they say newsfeed posts that you've been watching t.v. and dancing with another sim they might camp out at your house to try and catch you. I LOVE THIS GAME! LOL

  4. Who says that's cheating anyway? People don't have to date exclusively and some might have open or polyamorous relationships.

  5. As such, not being able to cheat is a good thing. There is so much cheating going on in the real world as well as movies (especially in the Burn after Reading film) that it makes a nice change to have "honest" Sims. Having said that, there could be either a trait or personality, which enable(s) the Sims to cheat. Perhaps, by letting the player use "kiss" and "make out" interactions, possibly even WooHoo with more than one Sim (as long as they are at a "love" relationship level, which once again could be made available with more than one Sim). In that case, it would be up to the individual players whether they want their Sims to cheat or not (it would also avoid debasing relationships and making them sex-orientated if they have to "love" the other Sim first). If it is a trait, the player could unlock the ability to love more than one Sim at once, use "kiss" on more than one Sim, etc... possibly with increasing risk of being caught as mentioned in an above post. On a side note, being able to write love letters or e-mails would be nice. All in all, it would be nice to have the option to "cheat", but that it is what it should remain, an OPTION, not the norm. Sorry this was quite long... Went a bit over-board, oops!
